Tonight, I've once again tackled the mound of smelly clothes my brother calls his. I've decided that I can no longer live with the odor emanating from my basement and have voluntarily sorted and have begun to wash his clothes. I keep saying that I won't do it again, but he's figured out that if he leaves them, every 3 or 4 months, I'll wash.
I hope that his divorce ends as scheduled on Sept. 7! We all need closure in this case and I think he's ready to move on with his life. I know that I'm ready. I just hope that he's learned a thing or two about relationships before he moves on too far.
My niece, Julia, will start 4-year-old kindergarten tomorrow. I can't believe how quickly it's going! Just this past Sunday, our home church gave baby Sam a shower. Julia wasn't feeling very well. Turns-out that she has Hand, Foot and Mouth disease - which is actually just a virus.
I was watching TV earlier (Grey's Anatomy, yes it was a re-run, yes I've seen it before!) and it got me to thinking. If I knew today was my last day to live, what would I do? The only thing that I would really want to do would be to spend it with Julia. She's the brightest star in my life! I know that the babies will be up there soon, but for now, Julia rocks!
She is a beautiful, intelligent, loving child who wants to do the right thing and who I will always treat like the princess that I think she is! I try, now that there are other nieces and a nephew in the family, to spoil them equally, but I tend to spoil Julia the most. It's just so easy to do!
Anyway, last night I went to the B'ham Barons vs. Jacksonville Suns game. It was the 2nd in this series and B'ham is out of the race for the league playoffs. J'ville's best pitcher, Spike Lunsberg, was pitching - he's pretty good! It was the middle of the 9th inning and the Barons were down 6-1. (My seats are just behind the Barons dugout, so I have a pretty good view of the game.) I heard something I couldn't believe...Baron's manager, Chris Kron, was, I guess, attempting to pep the guys up before they picked-up the bats. His words of encouragement? "Let's load 'em up. You never know what could happen." Encouragement? More like - "Do we really have to go back out there?" The last time the Barons took the field at home against J'ville and Spike was pitching, a series of brawls broke-out that ended when the Barons walked off of the field in the 7th inning. Of course, they were fined, but I almost think that would've been better than "You never know what could happen."
Tonight was "Thirsty Thursday" at the ballpark. For those non-Minor league fans out there, the Barons are among the teams that do a $1 beverage night promotion - including fountain soft drinks and beer. They do limit purchases to 4 at a time, so by the 7th inning when they stop sales, the crowd can get pretty wild. It's just not my kind of thing to go to a party and have a ballgame break out, so I stay home. Tomorrow night, I'll be back out there to get my free Barons gym bag (the first 1,500 fans!!!) - woo, hoo! Saturday, I'll either go back for Skyfest 2006 (i.e. a whole lot of fireworks!) or attend the 2007 Miss Birmingham Pageant at Shades Mountain High.
I went to the Miss West Central pageant last weekend. I'm telling you, those folks know how to 'get're done!' Congrats to Kimberly Kirby, Miss West Central 2007.
Later! Its almost 11PM and way past my bedtime!

You are a certified NUT! Julia absolutely LOVES her Aunt Amy. As a matter of fact, when she is in trouble or doesn't want to go to bed, she cries for Aunt Amy. I wonder why that is??????!!!!!! Love, Pam
