The Rutlands...
Well, since Pam's blogged twice since my last message, its probably time for me to post again. This weekend we had Charli again. She is growing so big and loves to eat! She thinks her Aunt Amy is funny - or at least she laughs at me each time she sees me!
I'd love to post what's going on with the divorce things, but it will have to wait until the judge hears everything on September 7! Keep us all in your prayers and include the judge and lawyers in that. Pray that they will all do the right thing by these children. In my opinion, Matt and Jessie got themselves into this mess and dragged these babies along with them. Whatever the judge decides to do with Matt & Jessie is good for them; these babies (okay, so Alyssa at age 8 isn't a baby anymore but she is a precious child who needs someone to protect her!) didn't ask for this and need someone looking out for them. Praise God that the judge appointed them a guardian.
In other news, my friend Katie left Birmingham yesterday morning heading to the 2006 National Sweetheart pageant. For those who don't know, its an independantly run sub-pageant of the Miss America system (not in any way affiliated with Miss America). The 1st runner-up from each state pageant in the Miss America program is invited to compete. Since Katie was Alabama's 1st RU, she was invited to go. Her parents footed the bill themselves and the Miss AL board didn't help her prepare - that's just an FYI to any nosey pageant people out there who might cry foul next year if she wins Miss AL!
This past Saturday, I had a little fall in my neighbor's yard and busted my tail bone! I'm sitting somewhat gingerly to my left side. The right side is quite achy. On Sunday, I could hardly move! I forgot how jarring it is to stop that suddenly on a hard surface - like I've said in the past, the fall doesn't hurt you - it's that sudden stop at the end!
Moving right along, the Barons are out of contention for the playoffs. This weekend's games (Labor Day) will be the last of the year. We (The Section E Fans) got a little too into the game last Thursday, making a series of posters to harrass the umpire after Wednesday night's calling was the worst I'd seen since the replacement umps left earlier this season (google Minor League Umpire Strike for more info on that!). There was one call that was beyond belief...The Lookouts had runners on 2nd and 3rd when the batter hit a line drive up the 3rd base line. The umpire, #5 Jason Millsap, called the ball FOUL, waited about 3 seconds - in which time the runners came back to their bases and the Barons stopped fielding the ball as it rolled into the Lookouts bullpen - and then reversed his decision and decided the ball was FAIR! I don't mind the umpire changing his mind, but his late-minded change allowed the runners on 2nd and 3rd to score and gave the batter a triple on what should've been a single!
What should the umpire have done??? Opinions?
Football season starts this week with my JSU Gamecocks traveling to South Carolina for an afternoon game. Alabama and Auburn both play home openers. Plus high school football begins this week. In this South, it doesn't get much better than this!
I must go to work, now, since I've been blogging for a while. Below is a picture of my sister, Pam, and her beautiful children, Julia and Sam. The picture was taken at a baby shower for Sam. You can read more about that on the Rutlands blog (link to the right!).
Later...
