Since its been a few weeks...

I thought I would update the blog.

First, I had an blessingly uneventful doctors appointment on March 25. The nurse using the doppler to find the baby's hearbeat was telling me that because I was only 13 weeks, she might have a hard time finding it. Well, she put the ultrasound gel on the doppler and touched it to my tummy - BINGO - a nice strong heartbeat! She didn't tell me the beats-per-minute, so no guessing yet on the sex!

I go to UAB's Dept. of Genetics on April 17 for a level II ultrasound and genetic screening. I'll have the option of an amnio should either screening test indicate a problem. I'm going there due to my 'advanced maternal age'...Makes me sound like I'm Sarah (you know, wife of Abraham!). I then have my regular monthly appt. on April 22.

Yesterday Mom, Dad and I went to Rome for Sam's second birthday! I'll post some pictures here soon, but haven't been home to unload them yet. The birthday party was a Baseball party at the Rome Braves (Single-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves) game. The Braves beat the bad-guys (aka Charleston Riverdogs - single A affiliate of the New York Yankees) 4-1. Of course, with 15 or so kids running around on "Home Run Hill" along with parents, grandparents, aunts and uncle, you don't get to see much of the ballgame!

My dad did catch the only foul ball to come in the area as a souvienier for Sam! Today is Sam's actual birthday and the Rutlands have another trip to the Rome Braves planned for tonight. One of Julia's friends will be singing the national anthem for the game! Way to go, Abby!

My brother did a lot for me this weekend around my house, for which I am eternally grateful. He had to miss Sam's party so that he could pick Charli up from her mom. We tried to get her to sleep in her 'big girl' bed last night. She fell-off the bed (a toddler bed, so don't panic) around 11PM. After that, she wanted her daddy...so he held her and rocked her, trying every-so-often to get her back down. Around 4AM, he was finally able to get her down in her crib. Maybe she'll transition better after her Spring Break. She'll spend the whole week with her mother. Keep them in your prayers! We're all worried about how she'll cope going for a whole week.
