Okay, I know some of you were curious and many of you have been praying. I wanted to update you all at once, since I'm not sure if I could talk about it, yet.
First, the only good thing that came-out of today - The sexual abuse allegations have been dropped. Apparently, law enforcement (Jeff Co. Sheriffs) investigated the fall and determined that she COULD have been bruised falling from whatever apparatus she was playing on and Alyssa's story has not changed.
Now, for the bad.
There is now an allegation of "physical abuse" because Matt has been "rough" with Alyssa in the past. We don't know what exactly has been said because none of the lawyers got the report until this morning just before the hearing. Because of this new allegation, the children will remain in foster care. DHR in Jefferson County recommended that Jessie get them, but the referee hearing the case said that they would stay in care. The next hearing is scheduled for MAY 25, 2007.
Jessie is to have the girls on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Also, Jessie's attorney alleged that my mom "intercepted" some photos that were meant for Jessie and has interfered by calling the baby's foster mother. Therefore, my parents no longer have visitation with either child.
The visit that we were supposed to have with the baby today has been canceled, as has the ISP meeting.
The lawyers representing my brother and my parents all agree that Matt is being railroaded, but don't know what to do about it.
Dad had to use his nitro spray 3 times while we were standing there listening to the lawyers and Matt explain what was happening.
What it appears to us is that now that Jessie has gotten Matt out of law enforcement, she's working to get Mom fired.
I don't know what tomorrow's hearing in Chilton County will bring. Keep praying for us, as this seems that it will never end, and that God is ignoring us and the welfare of these girls. We just don't know what to do. To say that no one is looking forward to Christmas would be an understatement.
Matt's lawyer seems to think that DHR will recommend that Matt get 'anger management' counseling and then they'll close the case. We're really concerned that because they dropped the initial charge and have now come-up with something else, this will never end.
Thanks for caring and for showing your support through this difficult time.
Amy
